Riz Ahmed, the British actor and musician, has won his first Oscar for Aneil Karia’s live-action short film The Long Goodbye, which Ahmed co-wrote and starred in.

In his acceptance speech Ahmed, 39, said: “In such divided times, we believe that the role of story is to remind us there is no ‘us’ and ‘them’. There’s just ‘us’.

“This is for everyone who feels like they don’t belong. Anyone who feels like they’re stuck in no man’s land. You’re not alone. We’ll meet you there. That’s where the future is. Peace.”

Ahmed was nominated for an Oscar last year for his role as a hearing-impaired drummer in Sound of Metal, losing out to Anthony Hopkins.

The Long Goodbye incorporates music from Ahmed’s album of the same name, which was released in 2021 and reflects on his identity as a British Pakistani artist.

Ghosts season 5 sees the return of the loveable gang of deceased Button House residents, who are played by the show's co-creators and writing team.

They are: Mathew Baynton (Thomas), Simon Farnaby (Julian), Martha Howe-Douglas (Lady Button), Jim Howick (Pat), Laurence Rickard (Robin and Humphrey) and Ben Willbond (The Captain).

In addition to their main roles, it has also been confirmed that the so-called "plague pit" victims will be making an appearance in this final chapter of the show.

The Ghosts cast also includes Lolly Adefope as the ever emotional Georgian noblewoman Kitty, while Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe play living homeowners Alison and Mike.

Character actor Geoffrey McGivern has been a regular guest star throughout the series as wealthy neighbour Barclay Beg-Chetwynde, so it's possible that the Coopers could have one more run-in with him, too.

However, Katy Wix will not be back as her witch trial victim Mary was memorably "sucked off" to the next plain of existence in Ghosts season 4.

Steven Toast, actor, voice-over artist, and legend of the London theatrical scene, has reached PEAK ANGER. After a final, very violent, confrontation with his old nemesis Ray Purchase, he decides to head off for a new life in the US of A, where he has been promised a 'leading role' in a major Hollywood franchise movie.

The Art of the Donald

Alison Jackson is renowned for her photographs in which she uses lookalikes of public figures to create imagined scenes from their lives. In a new series of images for Vanity Fair, she has turned her attentions to presidential candidate Donald Trump.

45 shots in total were narrowed down to 7 for Vanity fair. I was the art director for this very out of the ordinary editorial which got us in all sorts of crazy situations involving poker tables, naked ladies, burning crosses and firing guns......all to be released in a book very soon.
